The city of Coral Springs, Florida is situated within the states Broward County, approximately 20 miles or 32 km northwest of Fort Lauderdale. The city of Coral Springs was officially chartered on the 10th of July, 1963. According to the Census of 2010 the population of the city was about 121,100. The city of Coral Springs is a part of the Pompano-Miami-Fort Lauderdale Metropolitan Statistical Area that during the year 2010 had 5,564,635 inhabitants in it.

Coral Springs was a community which was developed and planned by WCI Communities. They were originally referred to as Coral Ridge Properties, and were part of Westinghouse. The city's name is derived from the name of the business. It was selected after different proposals had been considered and rejected. Even though the name implies it, there are no springs within the city. The actual Florida springs are found within the northern and central regions of Florida.

The young city grew rapidly during the 1970s, 80s and 90s. Each decade, more than 35,000 new inhabitants joined the city of Coral Springs. There is a distinctive environment in Coral Springs among the cities within South Florida. Some of this is because of the fact that there are stringent codes designed to maintain the aesthetic appeal. Coral Springs has won accolades for its family friendly orientation, overall livability and low crime rate. Also, the government of the city has maintained high bond ratings due to their effective fiscal management.

The city of Coral Springs boast more than 50 community and regional parks which can be used for leisure and recreation. There are a lot of rec and sports facilities in these parks, like basketball, baseball, soccer, aquatics, golf, football, volleyball, horseshoes, lacrosse, tennis, softball and bocce ball.

72.6% of the inhabitants more than the age of 16 years were in the labor force, with 95% employment and only 5 percent unemployment. About 32.9% were in sales occupations and office, 39.5% worked in professional and management jobs, 12.8% in service jobs and 7.6% were in extraction, construction and maintenance occupations. There were 7% working in transportation, production and material moving industries. There were 0.1% of individuals working in the farming, fishing and forestry sectors.

In Coral Springs, the main industries included educational at 17.6%, health and social services at 16.1%, retail trade 12.9%, the management, scientific, waste management, professional services and administrative industries were at 10.1%. Real estate, insurance, finance and leasing and rental industries accounted for 8.2%. The entertainment, arts, recreation, accommodation and food services came in at 7 percent, manufacturing measured 6.6%, construction was 5 percent, wholesale trade came in at 4 percent and warehousing, transportation and utilities came in at 4.9%. The umbrella of other services measured at 4.9%, information came in at 3.7%. Public administration was 3.6%, fishing, forestry, agriculture and hunting was 0.2%.

Roughly 85.2% of employees were in the private sector. There was 9.6% in government, 5% were in self-employed and unincorporated businesses and 0.3% as unpaid family workers.

Most commuting done within the city of Coral Springs is performed by driving since it represents 81.5% of commuting trips. Next was 11.2% of individuals who carpooled frequently and roughly 7.4% of the population either used other methods of transportation or worked from home.
