Known as the "Cultural Capital of Canada," Thunder bay city has various cultural centres that help represent many of the diverse populations in the city. These cultural centres include the Scandinavia House, the Finnish Labour Temple, the Italian Cultural Centre and the Polish Region. Music and performance arts sites proliferate within the city. Magnus Theatre is created during 1971, and it provides six stage plays for every season in the renovated Port Arthur Public School on Red River Road. The Thunder Bay Community Auditorium could seat roughly 2,000 people, and is considered to be the main venue for several types of entertainment. Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra provides excellent classical music. New Music North offers contemporary classical music through unique and novel chamber music concerts. Galleries and museums accessible in the area comprise the Thunder Bay Art Gallery, that specializes in First Nations works and their artists. The Dragon Boat Race Festival is a fundraising event each summer that supports community spirit, vitality and unity. Thunder Bay Kite Festival is considered as "One of Ontario's Top 50 Festivals" by Festivals & Events Ontario for four years in a row. Activities comprise games, crafts and face painting.
