Ingersoll is a town in the County of Oxford on the Thames River in southwestern Ontario, Canada. The nearest cities are Woodstock towards the east and London towards the west.

Ingersoll is situated north of and near Highway 401. Oxford County Road 119 serves the town. Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute is the local high school.

The town was the home of the very first cheese production facility in the country from approximately 1840, which still continues to this day. The James Harris Cheese Factory produced a huge block of cheese weighing 7,300 pounds (3,311 kg) in 1866, to help promote the town's cheese business. The "Big Cheese" was exhibited in England and in the United States at the New York State Fair in Saratoga.

The biggest business in the town of Ingersoll today is heavy manufacturing, with manufacturers like CAMI Automotive, and a General Motors car manufacturing plant, that was a joint venture with Suzuki Motors of Canada.

The area was originally settled by Thomas Ingersoll, the father of Laura Secord, who during 1793 obtained a land grant of 66,000 acres or 27,000 ha from Governor John Graves Simcoe. The township was originally established as Oxford-on-the-Thames but renamed to Ingersoll in honor of Thomas by his son Charles. In 1852, the place was incorporated as the "Village of Ingersoll". After nine years in 1861, the status changed to town.

The township of Ingersoll host various yearly events, such as Ribfest, Harvest Festival, Canterbury Folk Festival and the Winter Lights Festival.

June Ribfest: With each and every restaurant in the township participating, the main street gets blocked off so the entire town can walk around, socialize and enjoy some ribs at this annual event. Each year, 1 restaurant gets the honour of being titled with having the best ribs within town!

August Harvest Festival: Held during the 4th week of the month of August, this festival features such activities as The Harvest Run, food and wine tasting, battle of the bands, threshing demonstrations, live entertainment and lots more.

December Festival of Lights With the lights being sponsored by different individuals, families, and businesses all over town, this event brings the entire community together. The beautiful light displays could be found in several parks all over the town, as well as along roadsides. There is also the singing tree in the middle of downtown that is believed to have one light for every citizen of Ingersoll.
