Everett, Washington is located approximately 40 km north of Seattle. Everett has an estimated population of roughly 103,000 and serves as the county seat for Snohomish County. The city of Everett is the 4th biggest city in the state and fourth largest in the Puget Sound area, and has the largest public marina on the U.S. west coast. It is situated at the mouth of the Snohomish River on Possession Sound. Everett is named after the son of founder Charles L. Colby.

Situated in Everett is an assembly plant for Boeing. This plant is the biggest building within the world by total volume since the Boeing 767, 747, 787 and 777 airplanes are assembled here. The city of Everett was the recipient of an All-America City Award in 2002. The western segment of U.S. Route 2 terminates here.

Along the city's busy waterfront could be found the Naval Station Everett, Port of Everett, the Everett Yacht Club and the Kimberly-Clark paper mill. The Port of Everett has a huge marina with more than 2000 ships. The Port serves as deep-water commercial seaport, receiving nearly 200,000 short tons of cargo every year. During a recent redevelopment, the Port Gardner Wharf was built and the northern section of waterfront was developed along with condominiums, retail shops and maritime companies.

The waterfront is the place of city events and activities like the Everett Farmer's Market, held Sundays, and the Waterfront Concert Series, held every Thursday night. Public events consist of the Fresh Paint Festival of Artists, held in August on the marina promenade and Everett Coho Derby, held in September at the Tenth Street Park. Every summer, Jetty Island Days are celebrated on Jetty Island

The Port of Everett owns the man-made Jetty Island, a narrow, 3.2 km long island with strong winds and wide flat sandy beaches, a popular spot for skimboarding and kite-surfing. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built Jetty Island in the early 1900s in a failed effort to create a freshwater harbor. The island currently serves as a park, accessible by ferry. From the month of June through the holiday weekend of Labour Day, Everett provides free ferry service to Jetty Island from the 10th Street Boat Launch.
