Irving is a bustling city situated within the Plano-Irving-Dallas division of the Arlington-Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. As of 2010, the cities population is estimated to be 216,290. One of the first master-planned developments of the nation, the Las Colinas area, is located in the city. It is spread out over 12,000 acres and was once the largest mixed-use development in the Southwest. The Mustangs at Las Colinas, the biggest horse sculpture in the world, is situated in this area. The Irving Convention Center was built in Las Colinas in the month of January 2011. The Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is also inside the city limits.

The city was founded by J.O. Schulze and Otis Brown in the year 1902 around 50 years after the region was settled during the early part of 1850's. There were some other smaller communities that existed in the area, like Sowers, Kit Shady Grove, Finley, Union Bower, Estelle and Bear Creek, but they were all merged together to form the city of Irving in the year 1903. On April 14, the year 1914 the city was incorporated officially.

The two original founders of the city of Irving were both employed by the Rock Island, Gulf and Chicago Railway. After arriving within the area in order to survey a railroad route between the city of Dallas and the city of Fort Worth during 1902, they bought out the 80 acres that the British Family owned and began to develop the city. On the 19th of December, 1903 the first town lots were acquired at a public auction. In 1904, the post office from Kit was relocated to Irving.

There are literally thousands of businesses in the city of Irving, like six Fortune-500 global headquarters. Irving likewise features lots of amazing skyscrapers such as the prominent Las Colinas and Valley Ranch. These two developments have recently experienced rapid growth, which makes it a truly desirable location for potential residents. There are numerous business benefits to residing right next to the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth. In addition, the airport is near and convenient. The only five-diamond rating resort within Texas State is situated within Irving.

From 1971 until 2008, the Dallas Cowboys played at Texas Stadium in Irving. The area is now zoned for a large mixed-used project nearby the State Highway 114. Forest City Enterprises, that is the lead developer on the project, is currently rehabilitating the Mercantile complex located in the city of Dallas. They plan to refurbish it into a Rockefeller Centre-style multiple-use project.

The city of Irving has an assortment of great sports facilities, restaurants and attractions to provide to its residents and visitors. Dallas and Fort Worth are only minutes away and provide other great activities.
