The city of Allentown is located within the Pennsylvania's Lehigh County. It is the 3rd most popular city in the state after the much larger Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Allentown is also the county seat of Lehigh County.

As one of the 3 adjacent cities in Lehigh Valley, the city of Allentown is located near Western New Jersey in the eastern region of Pennsylvania, and is located along the Lehigh River. Harrisburg is the state capital and the city of Allentown is situated 80 miles or 130 km east of this city and 90 miles or 140 km west of New York City and 97 km or 60 miles north of Philadelphia.
