Toledo City is situated within the northwestern part of Ohio on Lake Erie. The city of Toledo sits really near the border of the state of Michigan. Toledo City is the county seat of Lucas County. Toledo City is dubbed "Glass city" because of its history of glass manufacturing.

The city of Toledo is part of a region where the Indian tribes and European settlers waged war versus each other. Toledo was the name chosen for the joint settlement of Vistula and Port Lawrence. The two villages consolidated into one and were incorporated in 1837. Toledo came to prominence as the home of numerous innovative enterprises within the glass trade. Windows, bottles, windshields, and glass art have all been made there. Major glass companies, like Libbey Glass, Owens-Illinois and Owens Corning, had their beginnings in the city of Toledo. Glass businesses have been the primary force behind Toledo City's growth, together with the manufacture of automobile parts. The city of Toledo spawned many large auto parts businesses, like Electric AutoLite, Questor, Champion Spark Plug and Dana Corporation. The world-renowned Jeep vehicles have been built in Toledo City ever since the year 1941.

The best known attractions in the city is maybe the Toledo Museum of Art, that is the site of the Glass Pavilion. This incredible structure houses many collections of priceless glass art. Among the biggest and most popular zoo's within the area is the Toledo Zoo, which is famous for its hippoquarium. The Center of Science and Industry (COSI) provides a hands-on science museum with both traveling and permanent exhibits for education and fun. Cultural offerings comprise the Toledo Ballet, Toledo Symphony and the Toledo Opera. Toledo's century-old Valentine Theater is at the heart of the city's downtown rejuvenation project and is still in operation.

The City of Toledo boasts more than 100 parks with plentiful chances for outdoor activities. The Maumee River flows through the city of Toledo and is a popular fishing place. Boating is a favorite activity on the river and on Lake Erie.

The local economy of Toledo was firstly driven by manufacturing, even though it has declined over the years. Chrysler, Jeep and General Motors still have facilities within the area.
