Middletown is a city in the southwestern part of the state of Ohio, United States. Formerly within Lemon, Turtlecreek, and Franklin townships, the city of Middletown is currently within Warren and Butler counties. Middletown has a population of 48,694 and is part of the Cincinnati-Middletown Metropolitan Statistical Area. Middletown was incorporated during the year 1833 and became a city during 1886.

AK Steel Holding Corporation, one of the main steel works in US, was founded within the city of Middletown in 1900, but the corporate offices were moved to West Chester Town during the year 2007. However, AK Steel's factory is still a major employer within the city of Middletown. The Towne Mall near I-75 was the major shopping center the businesses closed due to lack of customers. The major commercial shopping area is currently located in the neighboring city of Monroe and is referred to as Cincinnati Premium Outlets. Many technology businesses are situated in the Renaissance District of Middletown. A key employer is the Atrium Medical Center.

Miami University has its regional campus in Middleton. The city of Middletown has a small municipal airport, Hook Field, but is no longer accessed by commercial airliners.

The city's founder was Stephen Vail, who centered the city in Fractional Section 28 of Town 2, Range 4 North. Local lore says the city was named Middletown because Stephen Vail came from Middletown, New Jersey. Other sources say that Middletown's location at the midway point of navigation on the Great Miami River is behind the name of the city. Others say the name is derived from the city's location midway between Cincinnati and Dayton. After the completion of the Erie and Miami Canal, the city of Middletown began to flourish as a main industrial center.

There are numerous attractions within the region such as the Little Miami Scenic River Trail and Hueston Woods State Park. Birdwatchers and Hikers enjoy Bull's Run Nature Sanctuary and Arboretum. The park system provides a variety of sporting venues and hiking trails. There are various wineries in the area. Attractions for the whole family consist of the American Amusement Park and Kings Island Amusement Park. Nearby the city of Cincinnati provides a wide variety of entertainment and sporting events.
