North Las Vegas, in Nevada is located surrounded by the Las Vegas metropolitan area. Part of Clark County, North Las Vegas occupies 203 km2 of land within the southwest Mojave Desert, north and east of Las Vegas.

The city has two major thoroughfares serving the city: CC-215 and I-15. RTC Transit serves as the transit service for the entire metropolitan area or Las Vegas. McCarran International Airport, located south of North Las Vegas and Las Vegas, handles both worldwide and local airline travel. The North Las Vegas Airport handles tourist travel and business travel. Tours to the Grand Canyon are offered from this airport.

North Las Vegas is located in the Las Vegas Valley, along with the cities of Henderson and Las Vegas. The Valley has the highest concentration of population of any region in the state of Nevada, and is part of the Las Vegas-Paradise metropolitan area, that comprises all of Clark County. The metropolitan area's population is presently roughly 2 million. The Valley is defined by a 1,600 km2 basin, surrounded by the Sheep Mountains to the north, the Muddy Mountains towards the east, the Spring Mountains to the west, the Black Mountains to the south.

The whole area frequently goes by the names Vegas and Las Vegas or can be referred to as the city, the valley and the strip. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has the right to utilize the names as a brand.

North Las Vegas has been going through high unemployment and other economic difficulties. Future job growth for the city is expected to be 20.12%.
