Newark, New Jersey serves a population of 277,000 people and is the county seat of Essex County. The city is the states biggest urban center. The Newark region was first inhabited in the year 1666. It was an essential location in the Revolutionary War, after which it quickly developed into a center of transportation and manufacturing. The city had become an industrial colossus. A lively jazz music scene developed here in the 1950s.
