                    The Alois and Marie Goldmann Scholarship was established in 1997 by Mary and George Freund in honor of George’s grandparents who perished at the Auschwitz concentration camp during the Holocaust. The purpose of this scholarship is to promote a greater understanding of the Holocaust among high school students in Idaho.
ELIGIBILITY – Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a student graduating from high school or home school within the state of Idaho.
- Must be attending an institution of higher learning in Idaho during the coming Fall.
ESSAY OR RESEARCH PAPER REQUIREMENTS
To preserve the memory of the Goldmanns and other Holocaust victims, applicants are asked to write an essay or formal research paper on one specific aspect of the Holocaust. Please do not write on the Holocaust in general.
- Title page with name of essay/paper, your name, the date. Please do not put your name on any other pages of your essay/paper.
- Essay/Paper must be 2-6 pages in length.
- Double-spaced using one-inch margins and 10-12 point font.
- Please double-check the grammar, capitalization, punctuation and spelling in your essay/paper.
- If writing a research paper, please include a bibliography and references to support your research.
DEADLINE & DIRECTIONS
- This completed application page, your essay, and your most recent unofficial high school transcript must be compiled into a single PDF document and emailed to scholarships@idahocf.org by March 1st, 11:59 pm MST.
- The winner will be contacted by May 1st.
SELECTION OF WINNERS
The primary basis for the selection of a scholarship winner is an original essay or research paper. Beyond a minimum C grade point average, scholastic achievement, financial need and extracurricular or community activities are not factors in selecting the winner. The scholarship committee consists of both Freund family and non-family members.
