TWF Scholar Athlete Scholarship

The Walls Family Scholar Athlete Foundation (TWF) was established in 2006 to recognize and reward scholar athletes who demonstrate exceptional academic ability and strong leadership skills as well as within their communities. Our primary goal is to celebrate and support the MVP’s in the classroom and in the locker room who are defining their future and creating a powerful and positive impact on the lives of others in their community.

AWARD CRITERIA

Applicants will be chosen based on the following:

• TWF Scholar Athletes are trusted and respected members of their schools and communities who have built strong relationships with, and will leave a lasting impact on their teammates, other students, administrators, and community members by embodying good sportsmanship and strong moral character.
• TWF Scholar Athletes are intellectually accomplished and excel in their studies.
• TWF Scholar Athletes have made a significant commitment to improving the lives of others and have set themselves apart as community leaders through their passion for helping others.
• TWF Scholar Athletes embody diversity, equity, and inclusivity through their unique life stories, community activism, varied academic ambitions, and engagement in an array of sports.
• TWF Scholar Athletes are models of tomorrow’s leaders and illustrate the following innate traits:
  • Ambition and highly motivated leaders;
  • Inspiring and charismatic;
  • Honesty and integrity;
  • Intelligence; and
  • Courage.

• 20% Community involvement and volunteerism

PRIZING

TWF Scholar Athletes will receive scholarships commiserate with their grade level for their excellence in school, on their sports teams, and in their communities.

ELIGIBILITY

In order to be eligible for a TWF Scholar Athlete Scholarship or the Larry D. Walls Legal Scholar Award, the applicant must:

• Be an honor student between 5th grade and 12th grade (Scholar Athlete Award) or a graduating female undergraduate student matriculating to an accredited law school in the fall of 2025 (Legal Scholar Award).
• Be competitive in one or more sports at their academic school or a private sports club (Scholar Athlete Award).
• Be involved in a volunteer organization or charity.
• Have demonstrated a need for financial assistance.
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.5.
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident (you will be asked to prove citizenship and age if you win).

Applications

Applications will be made available beginning June 1, 2025, and the deadline for submission will be July 31, 2025.

Interviews

Phase II Applicants will be interviewed in August 2025.

Announcement

We will announce the final TWF Scholar Athletes and Larry D. Walls Legal Scholar Award recipients in September 2025, and awardees will attend Gala on September 27, 2025.
