The RFE KEEP Foundation Scholarship

  • Up to $5,000 per year; Deadline 5/2/2025
  • This scholarship is in partnership with the Kentucky Equine Education Project Foundation (KEEP). For more information on KEEP, its programs and to become a member please visit KyHorses.com.
  • The Race for Education Scholarship is available to a Kentucky student pursuing a field of study in the equine, animal science or agricultural industry and/or whose family is employed in the equine industry.

Bob Reeves Memorial Scholarship

  • Up to $5,000 per year; Deadline 5/2/2025
  • The Bob Reeves Memorial Scholarship is available to OHIO students pursuing a field of study within the equine, animal science or agriculture industry and/or whose family is employed in the equine, animal science or agriculture industry.

Race for Education Dual Credit Scholarship

  • Up to $2,500 per year; Deadline 5/2/2025
  • The Race for Education Dual Credit Scholarship is available to KENTUCKY high school students pursuing an equine related dual credit program at a participating Kentucky college or university.

Robert J. Frankel Scholarship

  • Up to $5,000 per year; Deadline 5/2/2025
  • The Robert J. Frankel Scholarship is available to a student attending a college or university in California or New York state, pursuing any field of study, whose family is employed in the Thoroughbred industry.
  • To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have at least a 2.85 GPA and have an annual household income of less than $75, 000 or be financially independent from parents.

Washington Thoroughbred Foundation Scholarship

  • Up to $5,000 per year; Deadline 5/2/2025
  • The Washington Thoroughbred Foundation Scholarship is available to a student attending a college or university in Washington state, pursuing a career in pre-veterinary medicine (equine emphasis) equine science, racetrack management, equine business or pasture management and equine marketing and/or communications as it pertains to racetracks, horse farms, and other related fields.

WinStar Farm Scholarship

  • Up to $4,000 per year; Deadline 5/2/2025
  • The WinStar Farm Scholarship is available to a student whose family member is employed by WinStar Farm attending a college or university, pursuing any field of study.
  • These $4,000 scholarships will benefit a deserving student through a partnership between The Race for Education and the WinStar Farm.

What information will I have to provide?

You will be asked a series of questions and required to upload materials electronically which include:

  • Signed letters of recommendation (Optional. Seal may be broken to scan and upload);
  • Current official transcript (Optional, but may be requested at a later date. Seal may be broken to scan and upload);
  • Student Aid Report (SAR) received in response to you filing the FAFSA; If you have not already applied for Federal Student Aid please do so prior to filling out your RFE application. You may do so HERE.
  • If you have NOT received your Student Aid Report, you MUST submit either your parent/guardian’s previous year’s tax return and current year’s W2 form OR the current year’s tax return. (Additional years may be requested.);
  • Financial aid award letter(s) (including other scholarship awards), if applicable.

  • All information uploaded to RFE is secure and will NEVER be shared with any third party.

To be considered financially independent, a student must be at least 24 years old, OR married, OR a veteran, OR an orphan, OR have dependents of his or her own. Applicants who have been legally emancipated must provide documentation indicating such. No exceptions will be considered.

Notification of Scholarship Recipients

The Race for Education will work with donors, its board of directors and community leaders to form a Scholarship Selection Advisory Committee whose purpose it will be to make initial scholarship award recommendations. In all events, the Race for Education shall have ultimate approval authority over final scholarship award recipients. All scholarship applicants and recipients will be notified no later than June 6, 2025.
