Scholarships provided in honor of Emily Inin Burnett and her legacy of inspiration through educational and personal achievement.
All applications are reviewed by an independent committee comprised primarily of individuals who knew Emily or are connected with cystic fibrosis treatment or research. Applications are scored on essay answers, achievements in school and extra-curricular activities, and quality of writing. Applicants who are selected to receive a scholarship will be notified in late August of their chosen award, with funds sent directly to their educational institution (typically within ten business days of notification).
Emily inspired many people with her positive attitude, her energy, and her achievements educational and personal. The Emily’s Light scholarship awards are intended to recognize others in the CF community that share similar traits.
Award Details:
- Awards are one-time
- Amounts are based on the number of applicants and are capped at $3,000
- Awards are merit-based and no more than ten will be given in any funding cycle
- Recipients will be acknowledged on the Emily’s Light website and newsletter
Eligibility criteria:
- Any person diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) who has been accepted into and is registered to attend post-secondary education in Fall.
- The educational institution must be accredited by the US Department of Education: https://ope.ed.gov/dapip/#/home.
