The Folsom Concert Association awards Performing Arts Scholarships to university and college-bound high school seniors seeking a career path in the entertainment arts. This includes vocal or instrumental performance, theatre and or film acting, theatre/film/music production, and/or business, as well as becoming an educator in any of these areas.
Qualifications
The following are the Folsom Concert Association’s Performing Arts Scholarships qualifications.
- Accepted for enrollment at an accredited junior college, college, or university in one of the following:
- Music
- Theatre
- Acting
- Theatre Tech (lighting, audio, set design, stage management, costuming)
- Directing
- Film/Television/Radio
- Acting
- Video Production and Editing
- Directing
- Sound Engineering, Recording and Reinforcement
- Dance
- Currently involved in high school/regional music (IE band, choir) or performing arts (dance, theatre), or video/film production.
- Current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, which must be shown on official transcript.
- Must be a currently enrolled high school student in one of the following high school districts:
- Black Oak Mine Unified School District
- El Dorado Union High School District
- Folsom Cordova Unified School District
- Rocklin Unified School District
- Roseville Joint Union High School District
- San Juan Unified School District
- All High Schools within Sacramento County
- *Or live within the school boundaries of the listed schools and go to a different WASC-accredited high school.
- Alternatively, a 12th-grade student living within the enrollment boundaries of the schools listed above must be enrolled in one of the following:
- A WASC Accredited public or private school
- A Home School program affiliated with a WASC Accredited High School
Application
In addition to the online scholarship application, the following are additional required application materials. They must be uploaded to a Google Drive or Dropbox and the link provided in the online scholarship application.
- Essay: One to two-page essay responding to the following question: “What is the impact you would like to make on society with your work in the performing arts?”
- Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation specifically tailored to “why” the candidate should be selected.
- Transcript: Current high school transcript, including GPA and coursework.
- Headshot: A high-definition headshot will be used for publication if awarded a scholarship. A selfie is not acceptable as a headshot. We suggest a plain, solid color background.
- Demo Samples: Your demo samples should illustrate your talent in music or other performing arts. You may include up to two one-minute videos and a single one-minute audio example of your work.
