The Fighting the Nursing Shortage scholarship promises $2,000 to a student who can thoughtfully address the recent impact of COVID-19 and nursing shortages on the healthcare system. Who Is Eligible?

Schenk Nursing Home Abuse Law welcomes students pursuing degrees in nursing to apply for the “Fighting the Nursing Shortage” scholarship. Applicants should double-check to ensure they meet the following criteria:

  • You are enrolled in or accepted at an accredited college, university, or graduate school in the United States
  • You are pursuing or intend to pursue a degree in nursing
  • You agree to the scholarship terms and conditions

Notably, the scholarship selection committee cannot accept scholarship applications submitted without all of their essential materials. If you’re interested in applying for the “Fighting the Nursing Shortage” scholarship, make sure you have your video and your application form complete.

How Do I Apply?

If you want to apply for the Fighting the Nursing Shortage scholarship, you need to:

  • Record a video thoughtfully answering the following question:
    • What can the healthcare  industry do to encourage more students to pursue nursing?
  • Upload your video as an unlisted YouTube video, then share a link with Schenk Nursing Home Abuse Law
  • Fill out the application form on this page before the scholarship deadline passes

Scholarship Video Topic

To participate in this scholarship, please create a video that addresses the question: What can the healthcare industry do to encourage more students to pursue nursing?”. The firm wants you to think critically about.

  • Your video should be between one and two minutes in length. When recording your video, make sure that:
  • You record your video in a well-lit area
  • You hold your camera/recording device as still as possible
  • You include your full name and the name of the Fighting the Nursing Shortage scholarship
  • Specify any sources of information and the media editing tools used in crafting and creating their videos in the description of the video
  • Use only copyright-free content, and come up with a creative, catchy title that reflects their ideas

Information About Editing and AI Use

We encourage students to use media editing tools, including but not limited to Adobe Creative Cloud, to include media features in their videos. However, Schenk Nursing Home Abuse Law does not require applicants to edit their videos. The scholarship selection committee will consider applications based on their content, not the applicant’s video editing skills.

Students may use AI to create B-roll footage. However, the use of AI to generate the video’s script, create false voices, or create fake actors may result in an automatic disqualification. Likewise, the core footage used in your video should not be AI-generated.

Application Deadline

You have until  July 31, 2025, to complete your video and submit it to Schenk Nursing Home Abuse Law’s scholarship application committee. Applications received after the deadline will not be taken into consideration.

The scholarship selection committee reserves up to three months to select a winner after the application deadline. The team cannot answer any questions about the scholarship or the winner selection process at this time. Please do not call, email, or otherwise communicate with the firm about the “Fighting the Nursing Shortage” scholarship.

Terms and Conditions

All applicants to this scholarship must meet the eligibility requirements as laid out on the scholarship application page, including:

  • Applicant must be enrolled at a college, university, or graduate school
  • Applicant must be at least 18 years old at the age of enrollment
  • Applicant must have residency in the United States
  • Applicant must be in good academic standing
  • Applicant must submit some personal information, including name, contact information, and academic information.
  • Applicant must create an original video on the scholarship topic provided.
  • Applicant must be pursuing or intend to pursue a degree in nursing

Anyone who meets the following conditions is NOT eligible to apply:

  • Employees or children of employees of Schenk Nursing Home Abuse Law
  • Past recipients of the Fighting the Nursing Shortage scholarship
  • Applicants who are unable/unwilling to be interviewed by a representative of Schenk Nursing Home Abuse Law if they were to be awarded a scholarship.
  • Applicants who submit the same video for multiple scholarships or for multiple years in a row

Selection & Award Notification Process

Age, race, religion, gender, national origin, familial status, or other protected classes will have no influence on the committee’s decision. The committee reserves up to three months after the application deadline to select a winner. Neither the firm nor the scholarship selection committee can answer questions about the selection process at this time.

Likewise, we cannot reach out to individual applicants who do not receive the Fighting the Nursing Shortage scholarship.

Schenk Nursing Home Abuse Law will only reach out to its scholarship winner. That winner will receive an email before the firm makes an announcement. Once the winner accepts their scholarship winnings, Schenk Nursing Home Abuse Law will create a blog post and press release celebrating their achievements.
