To provide financial assistance to economically disadvantaged students matriculating into a 4-year college or university for the 2024-2025 academic year.
AWARD
- 2 scholarships payable to separate scholarship recipient’s education for tuition and books (not to exceed $5,000 for the 2024-2025 academic year).
- Scholarship recipients will also receive assisted internship placement in the field of their choice, where available.
ELIGIBILITY
Students who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The candidate:
- is an Alameda County resident
- is enrolled in an Alameda County high school and will graduate in 2024
- has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- is a citizen of the United States or United States permanent resident
- meets financial need qualifications
- has been accepted to a 4-year college or university
APPLICATION PROCESS
Application period is from Friday, April 5th - Monday, May 6th. Application materials must be postmarked by Monday, May 6th for consideration. The following materials must be submitted:
- Completed application form
- Typed essays must be double-spaced with 1” margins responding to all of the following:
- One Long Answer Essay (1,000 words or less)
- Three Short Answer Essays (250 words or less)
- Official transcript from an accredited high school in Alameda County
- 3 letters of recommendation (at least 2 from a teacher and/or school administrator)
- Letter of acceptance from an accredited 4-year college or university
- Completed 2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form
SELECTION PROCESS
Scholarship recipients will be selected by the AEG Oakland Community Foundation’s Scholarship Committee based on completed application materials. All scholarship winners will be notified by the committee on Friday, May 31st.
