PGA REACH Georgia Scholarships

To be considered for the PGA REACH Georgia Scholarship, this application must be completed in its entirety. The Application must be submitted via GoogleForms by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025. The information supplied must be accurate and will be kept strictly confidential by PGA REACH Georgia.

PGA REACH Georgia Scholarship Program Purpose

The purpose of the PGA REACH Georgia Scholarship Program is to encourage and promote the attainment of higher education goals for youth who:

• have demonstrated a high level of achievement during high school,
• have financial need and
• have shown an interest in the game of golf

Eligibility

All applicants must:

• be a Georgia PGA Junior Tour Member in 2024 or 2025
• have participated in at least two Georgia PGA Junior Tour Tournaments in 2024 or 2025. NOTE: the applicant's playing ability will NOT be a determining factor.
• reside within the state of Georgia
• demonstrate a need for financial assistance to meet educational expenses
• complete high school prior to August 15, 2025
• be enrolled or planning to enroll as a full-time student. A full-time student is defined as one who is taking 12 or more credit hours in a course of study leading to a traditional associate (2 year) or baccalaureate (4 year) degree from an accredited college or university located within the United States, or considered a full time student by his/her respective institution.

The PGA REACH Georgia Scholarship Committee will review class ranking, grade point average (GPA), ACT or SAT scores, participation in Georgia PGA Junior Tour events, on-course etiquette and sportsmanship, extracurricular activities, honors, awards and financial need.

Application and Selection Process

Scholarship recipients will be selected based on a combination of the following areas:

• Academic Record (Cumulative GPA and Class Rank) NOTE: transcript should be from fall semester of 2024-2025 school year.
• ACT and/or SAT Scores (if available)
• College Admission Notice
• Determination of Financial Need - FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR)
• Junior Golf Participation
• Extracurricular Activities
• Letters of Recommendation (Preferred, but not mandatory) from a teacher, counselor or advisor and/or PGA Professional
• Personal Essay of 100-300 words

PGA REACH Georgia Scholarships

Bill Cowles Scholarship - One at $2,500

This scholarship is named after long time Georgia PGA volunteer Bill Cowles of Lilburn. Bill has volunteered for the Georgia PGA since 2002 having worked approximately 20 professional and Junior Tour events each year. He has been a key part in the success of the Georgia PGA Junior Tour throughout its 22 years of existence, working over 100 tournaments. In 2016, he was elected Honorary Lifetime Member of the Georgia PGA. Bill enjoys watching the personal growth of the players as they develop the benefits usually associated with competitive golf. These include the life skills of sportsmanship, integrity, self-discipline, perseverance and graciously accepting and overcoming occasional failures or set-backs. It is his believe that these skills will be vital to the player in and enjoying and prospering in their collegiate and adult lives.

Chuck Edmonson Scholarship - One at $2,500

This scholarship is named after long time Georgia PGA volunteer Chuck Edmonson of Suwanee. Chuck has volunteered for the Georgia PGA since 2000 having worked approximately 20 professional and Junior Tour events each year. He has been a key part in the success of the Georgia PGA Junior Tour throughout its 22 years of existence, working over 100 tournaments. In 2016, he was elected Honorary Lifetime Member of the Georgia PGA. When not working tournaments, Chuck enjoys creative cooking and working on his active model railroad. However, the real joy comes from watching our young golfers grow into young adults, then whenever possible, watching and following their college careers. "This is very rewarding as a Rules Official, thinking that somewhere in their growth you may have had a helping hand. The Rules of Golf are very similar to the rules of life, they constantly change, and we must learn to adapt.

Stubbs Family Scholarship - One at $2,500

The Stubbs Family Scholarship was created to honor Richard Stubbs. Richard was a dedicated supporter of junior golf and the Georgia PGA. The Stubbs family is happy to continue his commitment to golf in Georgia through this annual scholarship.  Eligibility: All applicants must be an employee or dependent child of an employee of a golf course facility located within the Georgia PGA served by a golf professional who is a member of the Georgia PGA and currently enrolled in a college or university. Applicants are preferred to be currently playing on a collegiate golf team, but it is not required.

Haskins Foundation Scholarship - One at $2,500

The Haskins Foundation was formed to uphold the mission of the Fred Haskins Commission and promote collegiate golf. Supporting the Haskins Foundation is a way for those with a love for college golf and the legacy of Mr. Fred Haskins to give back to the collegiate game and preserve the vision of the Fred Haskins Award. Thanks to our generous donors, the Foundation has been able to accomplish many of our strategic initiatives, including the addition of the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifle in 2014. Eligibility: All applicants must have been a Georgia PGA Junior Tour Member at some point from 2018-2022 and currently enrolled in a college or university. Applicants are preferred to be currently playing on a collegiate golf team, but it is not required.
