The objective of the Alaska State Firefighters Association is to serve our members through professionalism and leadership thereby enhancing the Fire/Rescue/EMS services of Alaska. Our association represents 1100 firefighters throughout Alaska.
GENERAL INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS:
- As a benefit of membership, the Alaska State Firefighters Association (ASFA) will award up to $4000 per year to graduating seniors of ASFA members in good standing. If the applicant is an active member of an ASFA Chapter, (an Explorer or Cadet) they are eligible for this scholarship.
- All applicants must have a 2.0+ GPA
- All applicants must be graduating from an Alaska high school. The applicant must show a letter of acceptance from a college, university or Voc-Tech.
- Applications must be received by MAY 15.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Applicants must submit the following: (Note: please no folders or binders).
- Application form, signed by applicant, counselor, and/or principal, and parent/guardian. If applicant is 18 years of age, a parent/guardian signature is not required.
- A letter, not exceeding two pages, on family and school background, future education plans, and possible career goals.
- A copy of a current high school transcript.
- All forms and grades must be received by the ASFA by MAY 15 for review by the Scholarship Committee.
- All of the above criteria must be included in the application package to be eligible for the scholarship.
USE OF SCHOLARSHIP:
A Scholarship recipient must:
- Use the award toward tuition, fees, room and board, and books ONLY.
- Begin attendance within 12 months of high school graduation.
