Truck Accident Awareness Scholarship

Scholarship Value: $2,500

Awards Available: 1

Award Deadline: Dec 1, 2025

The Fitch Law Firm is awarding a Truck Accident Awareness Scholarship to a promising college student who can share solutions for helping reduce trucking accidents on our roads. The $2,500 academic award can go toward tuition, books, and other education-related expenses.

We know that our nation’s economy heavily depends on the trucking industry, which employs at least 3.5 million people in the U.S., according to the United States Census Bureau. Still, commercial trucks are highly dangerous, and accidents involving them cause fatalities and severe injuries. We believe our highways, byways, and local roads are among the most dangerous places for vehicles, and more must be done to make them safer for road and non-road users.

The deadline to apply for the Truck Accident Awareness Scholarship is December 1, 2025. Please note that we will not consider any applications we receive after the deadline.

Scholarship Essay Topic

Write an original public safety announcement (between 1,000 to 1,500 words) that a) raises awareness of the current climate concerning commercial truck accidents and b) proposes a creative way to increase road safety here in Ohio and throughout our nation.

We encourage participants to take an innovative approach to the task and be as creative as they wish. We want to hear your perspective on the matter. Several factors contribute to road safety hazards in commercial traffic accidents, including distracted or fatigued driving, speeding, improper cargo loading, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and even prescription and over-the-counter medication.

You can address these challenges in your scholarship essay if you would like. We are especially interested in practical and viable solutions to truck safety challenges.
