Each year ENL offers four scholarships for students residing in Newfoundland and Labrador. Each of the following scholarships are valued at $1000. These scholarships are available to students who have been diagnosed with epilepsy, seizure disorder or who have a family member that has been diagnosed with epilepsy or seizure disorder. Each scholarship is unique, so please review all the criteria before applying. Application forms can be downloaded and printed from our website. The opening date for all scholarship applications is September 4th, 2024 and the closing date is November 1st of the current academic year. Applications will only be accepted via mail or in person at: 351 Kenmount Road, St.John’s NL, A1B 3P9.
Epilepsy Newfoundland & Labrador Family Scholarship
The Epilepsy Newfoundland & Labrador Family Scholarship is awarded to a student who has a family member with epilepsy, and is currently in or about to enter their first year of study at a post secondary institution. This scholarship is tenable at any post secondary institution in the Canada or United States. All applicants must be entering or currently enrolled in their first year of post secondary education in the same year as the application.
The value of this scholarship is $1000 and will be paid directly to the successful candidate once Evaluations for this scholarship will be based on a combination of the applicant’s grades, extracurricular activities and financial need. Current board or staff members are not eligible to apply. Former board or staff members that have been out of the service of Epilepsy Newfoundland & Labrador for two years or more prior to the scholarship award date are eligible to apply. The successful applicant must submit confirmation of admission or enrollment in a post secondary intitution to Epilepsy Newfoundland & Labrador no later than January 15th, 2025. Application deadline is November 1st, 2024. Notifications of scholarship will beno later than November 30th, 2024. Current board or staff members are not eligible to apply for scholarships. Former board or staff members and/or their family members can apply for scholarships if they have been out of the service of Epilepsy Newfoundland and Labrador for two years. This two year period will be calculated as two years prior to the scholarship award date.
Obligations: Award holders must be prepared to enter or be currently enrolled in a postsecondary training institution in the academic year of application.
The award holder must submit to Epilepsy Newfoundland and Labrador confirmation of admission or enrollment to the training institution as soon as possible after the selection, but no later than January 15th of the academic year.
Where Tenable: This scholarship is tenable at any post-secondary institution in Canada or the United States.
Closing Date: Scholarship applications must be received by Epilepsy Newfoundland and Labrador no later than November 1st of the academic year.
Award: This award will be paid directly to the successful applicant.
Notification of award will be made no later than November 30th. The successful applicant should be available in person to receive their award at a formal presentation.
