The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is a national organization of degreed women who work to promote equality in education, health care, careers and pay for girls and women. In keeping with these goals, the Las Vegas Branch of AAUW is pleased to be able to make a $500 scholarship award each fall semester to be used in the spring semester at New Mexico Highlands University to a recipient selected by our Scholarship Committee.
Students who meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply:
- Must be a female full-time degree-seeking undergraduate (12 hrs) OR at least a half-time (6 hrs) degree-seeking graduate student.
- Must be a non-traditional student who is 24 years of age or older, OR, if younger, has children.
- Must have maintained a 3.00 cumulative grade point average for two consecutive semesters.
- Must be from northeastern New Mexico and have attended NMHU for at least two semesters.
Applicants will complete and mail:
- the scholarship application form,
- a copy of their current transcript, and
- a short statement describing their educational and career goals, and the challenges of being a non-traditional female student to:

The application materials must be postmarked November 30 or earlier to be considered.
Applicants may also be asked to meet with the committee.
